Bear Attack at Gorges State Park



November 11th, 2023 Segment 1,

Bear attack on a camper trailer in Sapphire, NC closes the campground at Gorges State Park until November 16th, 2023.  The supposed bear ripped the siding off the trailer.  Neither bear nor visitor to the park were injured during the attack.  However, the park decided to close the campground for two weeks.  Staff is implementing precautions to prevent bear interactions with humans.

The park remains open for day use. but the park advises visitors to always use caution.
