South Carolina implemented a coastal fish tagging program back in the 1970s. Wes Lawson joins the Carolina Outdoors to share his journey down to the Charleston, SC, area for fishing & they’re catch of “Tagged” redfish. Over 4,000 different anglers have caught and tagged over 140 species of coastal gamefish. One hundred and seventy-five thousand fish have been tagged but only a fraction have been reca-ught. Most of them are caught are redfish. For fly anglers the best rod and reel to use is a 7-weight fly rod or an 8-weight fly rod from Jesse Brown’s. Some of the primary brands for fly fishing rods are Echo and Sage.
